Ministry with Children

Westwood UMC has a vibrant Sunday morning Children’s Ministry. Our grade school teachers (K-5) use a station-based curriculum that allows each month’s theme to stay fresh as the lessons rotate through age-appropriate components.

Both the Pre-K class and the nursery are specially designed and staffed for the needs of each age group. Our facility, classroom design, teachers and curriculum connect with kids in order to connect them to the wider life of the church. Students participate in monthly Communion, service projects, and special activities that integrate them into the larger congregation and help to fully express our heart as a community.

We have an amazing group of volunteers and workers that make our Children’s Church an amazingly fun place to learn and connect. We are moving to a new curriculum this Fall in all of our classes called Grow, Proclaim, Serve. It is a fantastic plan that provides continuity from week to week and consistency between all of our age groups. These age-appropriate lessons will also be available to the parents via the Grow, Proclaim, Serve website: http://www.growproclaimserve.com/parents.html so that learning and conversation can continue during the week at home with activities that are coordinated to each week’s lesson!

It is so exciting to have so many young (and growing) families. Our staff, workers and parent volunteers do an excellent job of caring for our kids in a safe, healthy, and fun environment.
